Addiction is powerful, piercing, potent. A daunting slippery slope. And witnessing the unimaginable as your child falls prey to its’ unrelenting claws, terrifying. Losing a child to an overdose or drug/alcohol related problem brings to question every past action and communication. It is a hard reckoning and deep wondering.
KardBoard House was written to offer insight into a son and mothers hope for recovery and healing. Through Lucas’ and Nancy’s exchanges, you are reminded of the collective human condition and the unbreakable bond between a child and parent.
Nancy leads group discussions, dissecting the roller coaster that is this journey and opens the door to all those impacted by a loved one’s substance use disorder. These forums provide a safe place for learning, releasing, and connecting.
KardBoard House gives voice to Lucas’ inner struggle and experience, his search for and attempts at recovery, and his undeniable wish for healing. It exposes too, Nancy’s hunt for answers, her desperate pleas to her beloved boy and what she has learned through her sorrow and loss.
